Unpacking THE Russia-Ukraine Conflict Sovereignty, Annexation, and Intervention

The Russia-Ukraine conflict is a complex dispute that has been ongoing for years, involving issues such as sovereignty, territorial integrity, annexation, and intervention.
Sovereignty is the idea that a state is the ultimate authority within its own borders and has the power to make decisions without interference from other states. It is a central concept in international relations and is enshrined in the United Nations Charter.
The annexation of Crimea by Russia in 2014 violated Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. Russia claimed that the predominantly Russian-speaking population of Crimea was in danger from the new government in Kiev.
Russia’s ongoing intervention in eastern Ukraine has destabilized the region and challenged the Ukrainian government’s ability to govern its own territory. The conflict in eastern Ukraine has led to the deaths of thousands of people.
The international community has widely condemned Russia’s actions in Ukraine, with many countries imposing economic sanctions on Russia in response. The conflict highlights the importance of the principle of sovereignty in international relations and underscores the need for a diplomatic solution.

“BJP Accuses Baghel of Operating ‘Cash Pick-Up’ Service, CM Retorts by Calling BJP a Spokesperson for ED”

*
* The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted searches at several locations in Chhattisgarh, including properties linked to Congress party leaders.
* Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and BJP leader Raman Singh accused Bhupesh Baghel, his successor, of operating a “cash pick-up service” in the state ahead of the Congress party’s plenary session.
* Singh alleged that Baghel was “looting the resources of Chhattisgarh to fill the vault of 10 Janpath,” and accused the Congress of crying foul whenever Baghel’s “theft” is caught.
* The ED raids took place at multiple locations across Chhattisgarh, including the premises of Congress leaders such as Devendra Yadav, Ramgopal Agrawal, Sushil Sunny Agrawal, and RP Singh.
* The Congress plenary session is scheduled to take place from February 24 to 26, with over 10,000 Congress functionaries and senior leaders expected to attend.
* Baghel responded by accusing the BJP of being scared of the Congress and trying to create panic by targeting select individuals of Congress.
* Baghel also hit back at Raman Singh, calling him a spokesperson for central agencies whenever there is a raid and stating that the four years of Congress government have done what Singh couldn’t achieve in 15 years.
