250 fine for spitting in public in Uttar Pradesh now; to be called ‘Mr/Ms. Piku

SBM campaign previously only included Lucknow and Agra.
The campaign has now been extended to cover the entire state of Uttar Pradesh.
Spitting or littering in public places is now an offence in all urban bodies of Uttar Pradesh.
Offenders will be labelled with the title of “Mr/Ms. Piku” and will be fined ₹250 in cities with 6 lakh population or more and ₹150 in cities with less than six lakh population.
The state mission director of SBM (Urban) Neha Sharma issued an order to all concerned authorities.
The goal of the campaign is to elevate UP cities’ categories from ‘good’ to ‘great’.
There will be zero tolerance towards urination/spitting at public places under this campaign.
