Flu outbreak ushers COVID-like lockdowns as cases RISEN

An influenza outbreak in China has intensified in recent weeks.
The positivity rate for flu increased from 25.1% to 41.6% in one week, according to the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
The Covid positivity rate decreased from 5.1% to 3.8%.
The northwestern city of Xi’an imposed pandemic-style lockdowns, similar to those used to curb Covid-19.
Xi’an has a population of nearly 13 million residents who were locked down for a month in 2021 due to Covid.
The lockdown measures include school and business closures and the closure of other crowded locations.
CNN reported that residents argued it would be better to vaccinate rather than initiate lockdowns.
The authorities were criticized for imposing lockdowns to curb the influenza outbreak.
