Tamil Nadu Live News Updates July 27 2022: PM Modi will visit the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium Thursday to inaugurate the Chess Olympiad and later on July 29, he will participate in Anna University’s convocation at the College of Engineering, Guindy campus.
Ahead of the inaugural ceremony of the Chennai Chess Olympiad 2022 scheduled to begin on Thursday, an Olympiad torch rally is scheduled to be held on Wednesday between 4 pm and 7 pm from the Presidency College ground to Nehru Stadium in Chennai. The rally will pass through Kamaraj Salai, Rajajaji Salai, War Memorial, Flag Staff Road, Anna Salai, Pallavan Salai, Central Alight Point, PLC Junction, Raja Muthiah Salai. It will then reach the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium.
The Greater Chennai Police have put in place a five-tier security arrangement and have deployed 22,000 personnel ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city on July 28 for the inauguration of the 44th International Chess Olympiad. Flying of drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles has been banned in the city limits on July 28 and 29 under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code. In the fourth such incident reported in the state this month, a Class XII student died by suicide near Virudhachalam in Tamil Nadu’s Cuddalore district this week, prompting Chief Minister M K Stalin to voice his concern.
